ephotos: Hello Ed. Thanks for taking the time to share some information about yourself with our readers. Let's start with the basics. Where are you based ?

EM: Salt Lake City Utah.

ephotos: At what age did you figure out that photography was your thing?

EM: I was 16 and it came to me during English Class.  The kid next to me always played with film canisters and his camera to help pass the time.  He would hand over new b/w images for me to look at every day.  That friendship helped spark my passion for photography.

ephotos: Were there other photographers, outside of the kid from your english class, that inspired or influenced you?

EM: Ansel Adams was my first true inspiration in photography.  I felt a connection with his work that helped fuel my love for the outdoors, specifically the mountains.

ephotos: How would you describe your style of photography Ed?

EM: Landscapes, portraits and lifestyle.  My images are well planned but not forced capturing interesting characters in dynamic environments. The images engage the viewer, creating wonder about what came before and after the frozen moment.

ephotos: What type of equipment do you use?

EM: 35mm, medium format, Holga toy camera.

ephotos: What’s the worst thing that has happened to you during a shoot?

EM: I got sick and had to use the bathroom every 5 minutes.  I had a fever as well.  It Sucked. But to my amazement we got the shots.

ephotos: Do you have a site? Is it flash or HTML?

EM: Yep, www.edshoots.com  and it's flash based.

ephotos: Do you have a rep or agent?

EM: I do, Arlene Johnson in San Francisco. www.arlenejohnson.com  (new site coming soon!)

ephotos: Tell us some of the places your camera has taken you recently Ed?

EM: NY, San Francisco, LA, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Miami.

ephotos: Do you try to get out and shoot for fun Ed?

EM: Absolutely.  I love shooting.  It's my passion.

ephotos: We ask everyone we interview the same question about whether or not they get out and shoot for fun but surprisingly, no one ever sends us those photos to display along with their interview. Maybe that is just a conincidence. Do you deal with any stock agencies?

EM: At the moment www.eurostock.us takes care of my stock.

ephotos: Do you feel like you’re being treated fairly by your agency?

EM: Absolutely.  They are wonderful to work with.
.
ephotos Do you use a resource site or publication? workbook.com photoserve.com

ephotos: What are you working on next?

EM: Lots of personal work and client projects.  They're going to be sweet.  Check out my site at the end of the summer.

ephotos: Is there anything else you’d like to say about yourself or your work?

EM: I really enjoy the team aspect of photography.  I love being able to come up with a concept and along with my team produce and shoot it.  There's nothing better than collaborating on a project and watching it all unfold.

ephotos: Thanks for taking the time Ed and remember to keep the focus!
